ELA Skills in the Classroom

    What can be said about English Language Arts skills? These are the foundation skills that allow students to be successful as they progress grade levels. These also assist students in other subject areas--science, history, and even math. Then, why do so many students need help with even the most basic of these skills? Can teachers provide students with assistance from both students and parents to develop proficiency in these skills?  

    These are loaded questions, yet these thoughts run through every teacher's mind as they develop, plan, and implement daily literacy instruction in their classrooms. It is daunting. I hope that I am able to provide assistance and insight and share some resources that I have found to be incredibly useful when working with students in the classroom and supporting their families at home. Join me as we traverse the wonders of the ELA classroom.
